AU Foundation extends essential relief support to flood-affected people in Assam

“There has been no electricity for days, we are somehow managing with kerosene but even that is getting over now. We don’t even have candles with us now. We have been eating just once a day but we don’t know how long we can continue like this,” - a desperate villager from Darrang district in Assam. 

In what many are calling one of the worst floods in the last 35 years in Assam, over 1.8 Million people have been impacted in 32 out of the 36 districts in the state in the last one week. Reports say that the dangerous floods have claimed around 121 lives in the state. Many more are missing too. There has been a tremendous loss of property as well - the condition is dire and people are in urgent need of support.

“Just a few months ago, Assam saw another flood and with the help of Donatekart and many kind donors, we were able to give dry ration kits to around 1200 people. But this time, the need is much more and dire. Join AU Foundation in the effort to provide ration kits to over 500 families, Kyunki, Badlaav Humse Hai!.” 

Lakhs of people have been rendered homeless by the Assam floods.
