Support Guru Krupa’s Efforts To Give 150+ Intellectually Challenged Souls A Better Life

Story of the changemaker

“Little children, who hardly understand the ways of life, they’re abandoned on the streets. Their only fault - they’re intellectually challenged and might not be able to lead a ‘normal’ childhood. But that doesn’t mean that they should be deprived of love and affection. They deserve all that and more and Guru Krupa will do everything in our power to give them a better life,” -Mrs Sushila Bohra, Founder, Guru Krupa.

Mrs. Bohra is an ardent social worker who has been involved with multiple organisations that work to uplift the underprivileged in the society. With Guru Krupa, she wants to bring about a change not in the lives of the residents but also the mindset of the society that still ostracises the intellectually challenged.

A safe haven for intellectually challenged people in Jodhpur

An endeavour of the Rajasthan government, Guru Krupa has been functioning for the last 5 years. It is now home to around 150 residents who have either been abandoned or their family is too poor to take care of their special needs. While some are as young as 8 years old, Guru Krupa is also a safe haven for older people.

“Society is still not very welcoming about people who have mental illnesses or even have neurological issues. In this fast-paced world, no one wants a child who is a late bloomer, someone who can’t run the rat race as fast as others. As a result, they are pushed to the sidelines of society. Their sad state breaks my heart…”

With your help, Guru Krupa can save many more lives in need

Jagdish, the person in charge of Guru Krupa, points out that most of the residents in the shelter home suffer from rare condition and are known to have violent seizures. They also have a very low level of immunity and need constant and quality medical support.

“The nearest hospital is about 18 km from our home. We don’t have an ambulance for our residents and by the time we make the necessary arrangements to take them to the hospital, many of them aren’t able to make it. Some pass away on the way. Each time I see someone die without the proper treatment, I feel so helpless.” - Mr. Jagdish.

Jagdish says that one of the primary needs for Guru Krupa is that of an ambulance which will help him look after his residents and give them a healthy life. Along with it, he also requests all to come forward and donate groceries and stationery for the residents. A small donation will go a long way to make them smile.
