Help People Of Uttarakhand Stay Warm After The Devastating Floods

As you read this, the people of Uttarakhand remain scared, worried and heartbroken. 

Rescue operations are still underway at Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, where a glacier burst caused devastating flash floods on Sunday, killing several people. Over 170 people are reportedly missing, 32 bodies were recovered and 35 workers are still trapped in a tunnel after a powerplant was destroyed. And the numbers are only increasing.

The devastating floods have destroyed everything they touched and have changed hundreds of lives forever. All in a matter of a few minutes. 

While over 600 rescue workers are involved in operations in places most severely hit by the floods (Joshimath, Chamoli district, Rini, Nanda Devi National Park, Tapovan Vishnugad Hydropower Plant and Saldhar), the people of Uttarakhand need all the help they can get right now.

This is the worst disaster to hit Uttarakhand since the Kedarnath floods in 2013. Hundreds of people have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and above all, their loved ones. In this time of fear and uncertainty, even the smallest act of kindness can go a long, long way. With the safety of their homes being stolen away from them, these people have nothing to keep them warm and protected from the cold, harsh nights. A blanket can give them a ray of hope during these dark times. It can save their lives. 

Along with the loss of human and animal life, the flood has damaged dams, roads and bridges, cut off 13 villages, and displaced several people. The people of Uttarakhand are shaken, but they try to remain brave. They can’t survive this tragedy without your help. Donate a blanket and save them from the bitter cold.
