Simba is a loving and energetic stray dog who roams the streets of South Bangalore and is a favourite among the residents. You will often see him coming to you, tail-wagging and looking for a little bit of your attention. But during the winter months, Simba is not the same. Especially this year. You’ll find him desperately looking for a warm place to stay. The rains have made this even more difficult for him. Hungry and cold, Simba is struggling to survive the winter.
Like Simba, thousands of stray animals on the streets of India are suffering this winter – this also includes cats, cows and other animals.
India is home to over 5 million abandoned cattle and over 80 million homeless dogs and cats – most of whom live a life of pain. With record-low temperatures, the need to protect these strays is now more than ever.
Protecting Them From The Bitter Cold Can Save Their Lives – Here’s How
There are several NGOs doing their bit to help these strays during these difficult months. Here are two you can support:
1. Radha Rani Gau Seva Trust
Started by Krishna Keshav Das, Radha Rani Gau Seva Trust works tirelessly to help abandoned cows by giving them food shelter and medical treatment in Vrindavan. Last winter, they helped over 2000 cows get blankets; now, they want to do more.
2. House Of Stray Animals
House of Stray Animals in Noida is an animal shelter and a dispensary that is working for the welfare of street animals for the last 15 years. Run by an avid animal lover, Sanjay Mahapatra, the NGO is dedicated to giving them a better life. They want to give stray dogs coats this winter to keep them warm.
Blankets and dog coats will keep these strays safe and warm at a time when they can’t find any shelter or warmth. This can potentially save them from illnesses and save their lives.
You Can Donate Blankets & Dog Coats Directly

If you’re looking for a way to help strays this winter, support Radha Rani Gau Seva Trust and House Of Stray Animals’ campaigns. Donate blankets and dog coats respectively and we will make sure these are delivered to the NGOs in time.
