Have you ever spent time at an animal shelter? Or at a school for underprivileged children? If you have, then you know the feeling that it leaves you with. Volunteering even a little bit of your time can make a big difference in someone’s life – and that is the power of volunteering. It’s such a rewarding experience and there are so many different ways to make a positive impact through it. Whether you’re volunteering to teach a certain skill or carrying out food drives, it’s evident that these activities can greatly improve the lives of others. But other benefits can it have?

Here are three ways volunteering can have a positive impact on your life:

1. Helps Create A Sense Of Belonging

Volunteering can help create a sense of belonging and foster a positive relationship between people from different backgrounds. You’ll have the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds and experiences, which can help broaden your perspective and expand your social network. Volunteering can also be a great way to meet like-minded people who share your values and interests.

2. Improve Mental Health

There is so much conversation and awareness about mental health nowadays, and it is said that spending time doing something meaningful like volunteering can have a huge impact on your mental health. It can help reduce stress, combat depression, and improve overall well-being. When you volunteer, you can experience a sense of purpose and fulfilment that can boost your mood and improve your outlook on life.

3. Learn New Skills

Volunteering can be an excellent opportunity to develop new skills or hone existing ones. Whether you’re organizing an event or teaching a class,  you can learn valuable skills that can be useful in your personal and professional life. Volunteering can also help you build your resume and gain work experience.

Donatekart and Amazon’s meal-packing event that took place in 2022 to help flood victims in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana is a great example of the impact of volunteering. Hundreds of Amazon employees came together to pack groceries for the victims which were then distributed by Donatekart. Employees danced and sang through the volunteering event, helped each other and most of all, packed over 2440+ meal kits in total.

Over 960 grocery kits and 500 shelter kits were distributed to flood-affected families in Karnataka, 240 grocery kits were given to Smile Always Foundation in Hyderabad for orphaned children, and 600 and 648 grocery kits were distributed to families in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha respectively.

The event truly impacted countless lives and supported families during some of their toughest days.

Overall, volunteering is a great way to make a difference. By donating your time and skills, you can ensure that someone else in need benefits from it.
