The Jharia-Dhanbad belt in Jharkhand is known for its coal mines. While we’re aware of the plight of the coal miners and their difficult working conditions, we often forget about the conditions in which their children live. Hunger, poverty and malnutrition define the childhood of these hapless children. Instead of dealing with books and slates, and pen and paper, these children are often left to fend for themselves. As a result, they end up being in unfortunate situations and in bad company. The worst bit is that these innocent kids believe this wretchedness to be their future.
However, 18-year-old Harsh Singh believes that every child deserves a happy and safe childhood. He is striving hard to give over 200+ children of coal miners opportunities through which they can have a holistic learning experience and lead a better life for themselves. It is for this reason that he had started the Sahadeva Foundation in Dhanbad.
Sahadeva Foundation is just about giving ,giving to those who need it and those who want it. They encourage the children of the coal miners to send their children to the NGO instead of making use of them as child labourers.
Here, they want to develop a system of education in which students will be able to analyze their problems by themselves. This will hone their thinking skills and reasoning skills.
Harsh’s foundation believes that education can’t be imparted in an empty stomach. So he works closely with other NGOs to provide healthy and nutritious meals to these children in need. But it is getting difficult for Harsh to manage all of that single-handedly. He needs stationery and groceries for these children so that he can continue the good work.
Even a small donation from your side can bring about a massive change in the lives of these underprivileged children of the coal mines.
