His Lungs Are Failing, This 9-Year-Old Needs Urgent Help to Stay Alive
Just a few days ago, little Kashyap was full of life. March 17 should have been a day of joy, of 9 YO Kashyap running around the house, cutting his birthday cake, and making a wish. Instead, his parents sat beside his hospital bed holding his cold, motionless hands, watching machines do the work of keeping him alive - something his tiny body could no longer do on its own.
‘Every year, Kashyap would wake up early on his birthday, too excited to sleep. This year, we sat beside his lifeless body, begging him to wake up. My child, who could never sit still for a second, is now laying there lifeless. How did this happen? Why is my son fighting for his life on the day he should be celebrating?’- Nisha, mother.
His fever took a devastating turn in just two days, leaving him breathless
On March 14, Kashyap had a slight fever. His mother gave him medicine, and he seemed fine. The next day, he complained of a stomach ache. A local doctor dismissed it as acidity. Kashyap even played with his sister that evening. Everything seemed normal.
Then, at 2:30am, he woke up crying, screaming in unbearable pain. His lips turned pale and fingers had gone cold.
By morning, his breathing had slowed as his oxygen levels plummeted, his heart was failing, and an X-ray revealed a horrifying truth - his lungs were filled with water and pus. He was rushed from their small village to a hospital in Nagpur, where doctors immediately put him on life support. Since March 16, he has been on a ventilator, unconscious, unresponsive.
For days, he has not responded to his mother’s voice nor held his father’s hand
‘It all happened in just two days.. just two days. How did my healthy child end up on life support?’- his father, Karthik, cries in disbelief.
Clutching his son’s frail fingers, whispering prayers between his sobs. He nudges him to wake up but Kashyap doesn’t respond. He hasn’t in days.
Kashyap has been diagnosed with severe ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) with acute kidney injury and poor heart function. His lungs continue to fill with fluid, making every breath a struggle. Surgery and at least 40-45 days in the hospital to drain the fluid are his only hope - but it will cost Rs.10 lakhs.
Every moment Kashyap spends on life support costs them money they don’t have
Kashyap’s father is a daily-wage farm labourer, earning just Rs.250-300 a day. He hasn’t been able to work for two weeks, running between hospitals and arranging medicines for his son. Every rupee they had, every borrowed penny - spent on oxygen, on medicines, on hope. They are terrified - what happens when the money runs out?
Back home, his elder sister, Sanskruti, waits for him. The little girl goes to the temple and begs for her brother’s life.
Kashyap doesn’t have time. Every second on life support is critical
But without funds, they will be forced to take him off. Your kind donations can ensure his next birthday is spent in his home, with his family, and not in a hospital bed. Please click here to save this little boy’s life.
