Support Mansi Lakshmi To Help Hundreds From The Trans Community Survive The Third Wave

While thousands of transgenders across the country are suffering from discrimination, there are also rays of hope for people belonging to this community. Mansi Lakshmi - a transgender activist has reached out to hundreds of s*x workers who were struggling amid the current pandemic outbreak. Even though the lockdown was lifted, many of them are still struggling to feed themselves. 

Mansi Lakshmi is the president of Aarju Foundation, a community based organization in Mumbai that works with the issues that the Transgender community face.  

Their efforts during the pandemic

Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, Aarju has done a commendable job by giving hundreds of grocery kits to the trans community. With the kits full of essentials in their hands, they could feel the joy of relief in the air. 

This impact makes us want to reach out to more such women and make their lives happy. These women have only known stigma and struggle. Even if they ask for help, more often than not they don’t receive that. I know it is difficult but I try my best to help feed them,” - Mansi Lakshmi.

However, now amid the third wave, the community is once again at risk. The increasing number of cases and subsequent curfews are an added hurdle for this already marginalized community. Mansi Lakshmi wants to leave no stone unturned to help them make it through the third wave.
