Thousands Of Cows In India Are Abandoned And Injured, Help Dhyan Foundation Give Them A Better Life

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

It was 2012, when two sadhikas on their way to Dhyan Ashram saw a 3-month-old calf getting run over by a car. The driver who hit the poor calf drove away without a second thought, and left him bleeding on the road. The sadhikas rushed the calf to the hospital but in vain. They got no help there. The calf was then taken to the Dhyan Foundation where it was given immediate care. Unfortunately, the calf had lost too much blood already and didn’t make it. The pain and suffering the little one went through gave rise to a new movement - the Save a Cow movement.

Since then Dhyan Foundation has been working relentlessly to protect these gentle animals. However, the plight of the cows in our country is still dismal, more so if they have aged or are ailing.

Dhyan Foundation Is A Safe Haven For All Cows

The Dhyan Foundation has over 45 shelters spread across the country, with a gaushala in almost every state. Here, volunteers and sadhaks take care of nearly 50,000 stray, abandoned, sick, injured, orphaned and rescued cows and bulls.

Dhyan Foundation is the only organisation transporting and rehabilitating the cattle rescued by BSF (Border Security Forces) jawans. They started this initiative in November 2018, and have since taken in more than 50000 such cows and bulls - all old, infirm, sick, diseased and injured, and set up many permanent and temporary shelters in the eastern states of Tripura, Assam, West Bengal and Jharkhand.

The difference in the Dhyan Foundation gaushala is that not one of the cows here is milked. All the bulls and cows that reside here are either old or infirm. The Dhyan Foundation's aim is to save these cows from the cattle mafia and prevent their slaughter.

The Dhyan Foundation runs many rehabilitative initiatives for the cattle. Several of their cattle who have been maimed in accidents or have lost the use of their limbs have prosthetics fitted. Other minor procedures are commonplace at the Dhyan Foundation, where health and care of the cattle are the highest priority. Water troughs and feeding stations are placed strategically, so cows are always well-nourished. They have a 24 hour animal emergency helpline and 10 ambulances to reach the cows in time.

    Their Selfless Service

The work of the Foundation has been commendable, especially when faced with calamities and for emergency relief. Year after year, Dhyan Foundation has intervened to save cattle and has even been the preferred choice for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Their animal awareness programs in schools, colleges, and corporations have enabled a better understanding of their work and the state of the cattle in the country today.

    How You Can Help

Today, Dhyan Foundation needs your help to care for the 50,000+ cows across the country that rely on them. They’re struggling to feed and care for them amid this pandemic.

With so much being done selflessly for animals that have found no care throughout their life, the Dhyan Foundation finds itself running short of funds for fodder.

Let us come forward whole-heartedly and donate to help the Dhyan Foundation so that these voiceless animals continue to thrive with the respect they deserve.

Your support will help thousands of cows in India get food to survive.
