“Some of them have been abandoned by their husbands while the others weren’t allowed to stay with their children who now have a family of their own. Their children couldn’t think of spending a single day without their mothers and now they have left them to suffer. Now these helpless women are forced to beg on the streets for food. Ba Nu Ghar in Rajkot is a home for all these women who have no one to look after them,” Mukeshbhai, Founder, Ba Nu Ghar.
42 abandoned women have now found a safe haven in Ba Nu Ghar. They are being given warm meals, clean clothes, and daily medicines. Dedicated volunteers look after these Matas round the clock and give them the love and respect they deserve.
I have seen them look for food in the garbage dump - no one should have to go through this pain
Mukeshbhai and a few of his friends started Ba Nu Ghar after they saw that a lot of women were not able to take shelter in old age homes. They were unaware of the procedures that need to be followed to enroll themselves in an old age home. As a result, they end up living on the roads and eating from the garbage dumps. Some of them have even wanted to end their lives because of the constant pain they suffer from.
“This is not a life anyone would want to live.. My friends and I wanted to help these women and here at Ba Nu Ghar, they’re being treated as our own mothers and sisters. Their happy faces fill our hearts with joy.”

Mukeshbhai has been struggling to provide nutritious food, medicines, and hygiene products to the 42 residents of Ba Nu Ghar. He wants to give them the best of everything but with limited resources, it becomes a growing challenge.

About the NGO: Based out of Rajkot, Gujarat, this NGO is a ray of hope for 42+ abandoned elderly women who have no one to look after themselves. Ba Nu Ghar is now their family and they take care of all their needs - from food, to medicine and even everyday essentials. Mukeshbhai looks after them as his own mother and sister.
