Story of the campaigner

The tribal communities in Manipur, India, are currently enduring a grave humanitarian crisis characterized by a genocide that threatens their very existence. It is our moral obligation to extend our support and provide essential assistance to these marginalized populations. This campaign aims to highlight the urgent need to address the plight of the Manipur tribals facing genocide and propose practical measures to provide them with essential resources and support.

Violent clashes broke out between tribals and people belonging to the majority Meitei community in Manipur on Wednesday, displacing thousands of people. Over 1500+ residents of Manipur’s Jiribam and surrounding areas have shifted to Assam’s Cachar district due to ongoing tensions in their state until Saturday evening.

The migration started on Thursday night, and around 1,100 people shifted until Friday evening. 400 more shifted on Saturday and took shelter in eight temporary camps of people from the violence-hit area of Manipur at a relief camp.

The district administration has increased the number of temporary shelter camps in Lakhipur. "Around 1,500 residents of Manipur have crossed the border so far; we, on behalf of NGOs, want to take care of them by supplying baby food specially for kids, food and essential items, along with clothes and emergency medicine for elderly people, and mosquito nets."

The genocide faced by the Manipur tribals demands immediate attention and compassionate action from the global community. By providing essential supplies, supporting rehabilitation initiatives, and advocating for their rights, we can help alleviate their suffering and restore hope in their lives. Let us stand together in solidarity, extending a helping hand to the Manipur tribals, as we work towards a future where their cultural heritage is preserved, their rights are protected, and their well-being is ensured.
