Project
This Daan Utsav 2021, 8-year old Tunisha wishes to spread some joy and comfort with underprivileged children in hospitals and villages across the country through her initiative ‘Gift A Gudiya’. This initiative was sparked by an incident that pulled at her heartstrings last year, at the beginning of the pandemic. One day, when she returned home, holding her favourite orangutan stuffed toy close to her chest, she noticed a poor child just outside her house, pointing towards her, and longingly staring at the toy. Promptly, little Tunisha went over to the child and offered that she could touch and play with the toy for a little while. Following this, she went into her house and selected another stuffed toy from her collection, to give to the child. She also expressed a wish to her dad, to give more such children the joy of owning their own toy. The Gift A Gudiya campaign is Tunisha’s way of fulfilling this promise. But, she can only do it with your support.
Tunisha wishes to donate traditional handcrafted dolls and bring a smile to poor children in hospitals and villages across the country. With the help of her dad, Khushroo Poacha , she has tied up with Qasab Kutch Craftswomen Producer Co. Ltd. for the same. This is an artisanal cooperative of 1500+ rural artisans from 11 ethnic communities across 65 villages in arid interiors of Kutch. These craftswomen channelize their traditional skills for dignified secondary income and sustain their cultural craft in the process. Traditional motifs reflecting the cultural identity of artisan communities in contemporary designs is a hallmark of Qasab products.
There are thousands of underprivileged children who have never known the joy of owning their own toy. At a cost of just Rs. 170/- you can donate a handcrafted ragdoll, bring a smile and some comfort to a child in a hospital or village and support our craftswomen, who are struggling to make a living during this pandemic. Thank you in advance for your support.
