After Planting Over 7 Lakh Trees In Rajkot, Vijay Now Needs Your Help To Do More

The world is facing a number of challenges right now. One of the most important ones is the threat to our environment. With soaring temperatures, sea levels rising, glaciers melting and other devastating effects, climate change is a huge threat to our ecosystem, human health and our wildlife.

Amid this crisis, Vijay Dobariya, founder of Sadhbhavna Vrudhashram, and Dhirendra Kanabar, Trustee, are determined to do their bit to help make Gujarat greener. They have already planted 7,50,000 trees across Rajot, Gujarat. 

“My aim is to make the entire state green in the next 20 years. We have also been working towards conservation of trees. This takes a lot of time and effort, but it’s important for us to do our bit for the environment.” - Vijay Dobariya

Vijay Has Been Dedicated To Helping Those In Need

Vijay started Sadbhavna Vrudhashram in Rajkot to care for the elderly by providing them with basic medicines, daily amenities and by giving them some financial support since they don’t have dependents or pensions. What started with just seven senior citizens, has now grown to a home for 256+ people, of which 90+ people are bedridden, have rare condition, or suffer from disabilities due to having lost their limbs, eyes, or other body parts.

Along with this, he has also been working towards the betterment of the environment and has planted lakhs of trees in over 6 years. He has a professional team of over 500 people working on this project dedicatedly. They water the trees twice a week and fertilize it when needed. 

“We’ve planted trees on vacant lands in cities and highways or in barren land in the villages. Due to these efforts, the stretch from Rajkot to Morbi, Bhavnagar has a lot of trees. We also make sure to plant those trees that can live for 100+ years. In case a plant or a tree dies, we always replant another one. We’re determined to do more in the coming months and years.”

About the NGO:

Sadbhavna Vrudhashram in Rajkot was started by Vijay Dobariya to give the elderly a safe home and a healthier life. Along with providing hundreds of senior citizens with medicines, daily amenities and financial support, he’s also working towards making Gujarat a greener state by planting trees in Rajkot and surrounding areas. He has planted over 7 lakh trees in the last 6 years and hopes to do more.
