It's not every day that we lose someone we love. However, despite how devastating that day can be, it'll change our lives for the better. This is exactly what happened with Vineeta Arora. One tragic day, her life took a huge turn for the worst. Her little pup, Casper was run over by a bus. Shattered on the inside, Vineeta decided that she had to something in memory of Casper for animal safety. With the support of her husband, a few years later, she founded Casper's Home in 2015.
Casper's Home was founded with the aim to provide help and protect injured strays and distressed animals, especially for the most neglected "Desi Dogs".
For the last five years, Casper’s home has been striving to reach out to rescue and serve abandoned and distressed animals.
“I have grown up loving animals. All their stories are different, some make you happy, some break your heart. But, I wouldn’t change a thing.”, says Vineeta.
On average, Casper’s Home gets 1200 animals, including cows, donkeys, dogs and cats, each year and at any given time there are close to 70 dogs sheltered in the home. She has mobilised a rescue group that’s active all over Agra. “Youngsters don’t see time or distance as a constraint when rescuing an animal in distress, they keep me going,” she says.
She has saved hundreds of animals from certain death, and rehomed many, guaranteeing them a better future. Today, VIneeta is looking to build a dispensary for these animals. Many of the animals they rescue are often ill and can be found in fatal conditions.
Not only has VIneeta played a major role in saving thousands of voiceless souls, but she also wrote a book called, "Odyssey of the street dogs" to raise awareness about the kind of suffering these animals undergo out on the roads. The book received immense praise by animal activists and Bollywood actors. For her immense contribution to the animal welfare, she has also been rewarded with Agra Rattan Award.

As a next step, she plans to construct a bigger shelter that can be home to 150+ animals. For the same, Casper’s Home has been chosen as the organisation to run an animal shelter in Naraich, Agra. Vineeta has faced a lot of public ridicule and hostility for her work with strays. But there are generous donors like you who have supported her efforts. As the land given to Vineeta was on an inclined slope, they had to invest in building a retention wall for the shelter. They also have a gaushala next to the shelter and it's crucial for them to build a boundary wall around the shelter. With a boundary wall, there would be a safe distance between the cows and the puppies.
