“I still remember Ponni, a 4-year-old mongrel who we rescued. She was in such a bad condition when we found her. Her jaw was separated with a rope, she was dehydrated and malnourished because the rope stopped her from doing anything. She was helpless and injured, with a huge maggot infestation in her mouth. But we took her in, gave her the medical care and love she needed, and now she’s completely recovered!” - Dinesh Baba Pannerselvam, Founder, Cloud 9 Animal Care & Rehabilitation Centre.
Ponni is one of the many dogs that they have helped, and for Dinesh and his team, every rescue is memorable. Often they also risk their own lives so that the animals can survive. Whether it’s rescuing animals from a well or the streets, Dinesh has been working towards the betterment of dogs and other abandoned animals since 2016.
Cloud 9 Is A Safe Space For Abandoned Animals
Cloud 9 Animal Care & Rehabilitation Center has been rescuing, treating, and caring for stray animals in Chennai since 2016. They have saved animals from natural calamities like the Chennai floods, Cyclone Nivar, and the Kerala floods, among others. They also focus on giving street dogs and other animals basic necessities, such as distributing thousands of water bowls to save animals from dehydration, reflective collars to protect them from accidents, food distribution, and emergency response solutions.
“So many people adopt animals without considering the time and responsibilities of having a pet, and as a result, so many of them get abandoned and are found in dire need of help. Our aim is to take care of these abandoned dogs and stray animals in our facility here until they live. They deserve to have the best life possible.”
Dinesh now wants to build an old-age home and geriatric shelter for dogs and other animals. They currently look after 60+ challenged animals on their rented property, but it’s not enough. Dinesh wants to rescue more dogs and give them a better life. And for this, he needs your support.
You Can Change The Lives Of The Helpless Animals
Dinesh now needs your support to get construction material to build the shelter for aged and abandoned animals, and get dog food and medicines to ensure all the helpless animals have a healthy life.
“A shelter will make their lives better and keep them from suffering on the streets. There are thousands of dogs who need a safe and secure home, and we want to give them that. We can rescue and rehabilitate many more animals with your support.”

Started by Dinesh Baba Pannerselvam, Cloud 9 not only rescues animals from natural calamities but also ensures their day to day needs are met. Dinesh and his team often risk their own lives to save dogs and other animals, and have helped hundreds in the process.
