Guardians Of The Voiceless: Dhima Panjrapole's Fight For Stray Animal Welfare In India

Project
Gujarat, a haven for abandoned and stray cows, is a testament to compassion and humanity's deep-rooted connection with these gentle creatures. Situated at the intersection of compassion and necessity, Gujarat serves as a refuge for cows that have been forsaken by society. The well-being of these cows depends on the benevolence of individuals and organizations willing to provide them with essential sustenance. One crucial aspect of caring for these cows is ensuring they have an adequate supply of food and fodder.
The Plight of Abandoned and Stray Cows
Abandoned and stray cows often find themselves in dire circumstances, struggling to find enough food and shelter to survive. These once-domesticated animals now face the harsh realities of life on the streets, where they are at risk of malnutrition, diseases, and accidents. Gujarat acts as a sanctuary for these cows, offering them a safe and caring environment. However, the sustenance of Panjrapole and its ability to provide for these cows depend heavily on external support.
The Importance of Cow Food and Fodder Sponsorship
Nutritional Needs: Cows are herbivores and require a balanced diet that includes various types of fodder, grains, and supplements. Adequate nutrition is vital for their overall health, well-being, and longevity. Sponsoring cow food and fodder ensures that these animals receive the necessary nutrients, which can help prevent malnutrition and related health issues.
Improved Health: Proper nutrition plays a pivotal role in maintaining the health of cows. Cows that are well-fed are less susceptible to diseases and infections, and they have a higher chance of leading a comfortable life. Sponsorship of cow food and fodder directly contributes to the improvement of the cows' health.
Alleviating Hunger: Hunger is a harsh reality for many abandoned and stray cows. By sponsoring their food and fodder, we can alleviate their suffering and help them lead a life free from the pangs of hunger. This is not only a humane act but also a means of promoting empathy and kindness in society.
And hence, we ask for your help to feed them and to create a healthy and peaceful environment for them on this huge 8-acre of land.
A short description of the current situation prevailing in this country.
Many cattle are abandoned by their owners when they’re no longer of use to them. The cows and calves are left on the street. If the cow gets old or stops giving milk, they leave the cows on the street, and when the bull calves are born, they are considered of no use as they don’t give birth. This careless abandonment results in thousands of stray, starving, and eating trash. Since buffalo slaughter is legal in the country, their future is most definitely towards horrific death at a slaughterhouse, but is that the only way for them?
In 2012, India had five million stray cattle roaming the streets. India also had an estimated 40 million cows and bulls aged above 12 that were at high risk of being abandoned.
Humans have a habit of taking care of things only until they can benefit from it. This is clearly seen in the dairy industry. The cattle are fed and taken care of only until they manage to give them milk. Have you ever wondered what happens to them once they are no longer ‘useful’?
Save those voiceless animals
No one does anything about the fact that the calves are taken away from their mothers minutes after birth and left to starve. The ones who manage to survive despite the lack of a proper mother’s love and milk, are exploited for more milk, and the ones who don't are slaughtered and sold off. These calves are not even allowed to go around their mother after their birth. Cows are highly familial beings and have strong family bonds, but the dairy industry denies these animals any interaction with their families. In fact, a lot of cows die from the grief of being separated from their calves. The calves are denied their birthright and are instead fed commercially produced milk. Cow’s milk, in fact, reaches every corner of the world but isn’t given to its rightful owners, the calves.
Hence, let us come forward to help those animals and let them live their lives in a peaceful and healthy environment.
