Devastating Floods Have Affected Over 4 Lakh People In Assam, Donate Immediate Relief For The Victims

At least 36 people have lost their lives and more than 4 lakh people have been severely affected by the dangerous floods in Assam this year. Monsoon rains have caused rivers like Kopili, Barak, and Kushiyara to overflow their banks, submerging villages and displacing thousands. Crops have been destroyed, leaving families without food or income. The poorest communities, who often live in the most vulnerable areas, are bearing the brunt of this disaster. The time to act is now - lakhs of people in this northeast state need our urgent support. 

There is despair and hopelessness everywhere as heavy downpours have been predicted across the state  

Relentless rains have affected over 19 districts across the state leaving a trail of destruction. Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Cachar, Darrang, and Udalguri are some of the major areas reeling under the deluge of floodwater. Over 100 relief camps have become temporary havens for 14,000 people, but the struggle is far from over.

 "Darrang is one of the worst-hit," says Rajib Kalita, Executive Director of the Association of Social and Humane Activists (ASHA), an Assam-based NGO. "Imagine - more than 16,000 people with nothing left, not even a roof over their heads. Especially the children and elderly, it's heartbreaking."

Donatekart Foundation is working hand-in-hand with ASHA, a local NGO based in Udalguri. Founded in 2018, ASHA has been a constant source of support for Assam's most vulnerable, providing education, food, shelter, and healthcare. 

Even in this crisis, their dedicated volunteers are going the extra mile. Despite damaged roads and bridges making travel a challenge, the Donatekart Foundation and its on-ground NGO are determined to deliver essential supplies and emergency relief to those who need them most.
