Donate Food, Water, And Nests To Save Countless Birds In North India From The Heatwave
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
Project
An extreme heatwave is gripping Delhi and North India. The temperatures are at an all-time high - reaching almost 52 degrees Celsius. The birds are having a hard time surviving this scorching summer heat. They are searching for a single drop of water and food. There have been news reports of birds falling unconscious and dehydrated from tree branches. The situation is severe and needs urgent attention.
Vulnerable and helpless, these birds are suffering silently
Birds have a naturally high body temperature, around 41 degrees Celsius, but a heatwave causes it to rise much higher. If a bird’s body temperature exceeds 43 degrees Celsius, their condition becomes critical and they need immediate medical care. Experts point out that conditions like this cause extensive damage to brain cells and vital organs, leading to seizures, comas, and eventually the death of the bird. The heat has dried up their water and food sources as well, worsening things for these helpless beings.
Veterinarians and animal activists have been doing everything in their power to save these innocent creatures. They have insisted on placing bird feeders and clean water pots at crucial locations to help these birds survive the heatwave.
“This is a simple step but it will go a long way in helping the birds deal with the rising temperature. This will prevent dehydration and save them from heatstrokes,” explains Mr. Rakesh Khatri, the Nest Man of India.
A renowned environmentalist, Khatri has been tirelessly working to protect our ecosystem. His organisation, Eco Roots, works closely with young minds aiming to introduce them to the beauty of our ecosystem to inspire conservation. Khatri has a record of making more than 1.25 lakh bird nests all over India.
Donatekart Foundation has joined hands with Rakesh Khatri and People For Animals (PFA), Delhi to help countless birds survive during the harsh summer months. PFA is India’s largest NGO working toward animal welfare. With a nationwide network of 26 hospitals, 165 units, 60 mobile units, and 2.5 Lakh members, they are on a mission to rescue and rehabilitate sick and needy animals.
How can you help
As the heatwave continues to claim both human and animal lives, join hands with the Donatekart Foundation and its on-ground NGOs to give nutritious food to the birds, nests to give respite from the relentless sun, and finally, lots of water to keep them hydrated.
