Diwali, the festival of lights, is a time of immense joy and celebration for millions across India. Families gather, homes are decorated with lights, and laughter fills the air. Diwali serves as a powerful reminder of the eternal battle between good and evil. It encourages people to choose the path of righteousness, kindness, and compassion
However, this festive season is not a cause for celebration for everyone. For some, it brings back painful memories.
Like Pooja*, a little girl, who spends her Diwali by the window of her orphanage. As she sees the entire country celebrate, she feels left out - there’s nothing she can do to change her plight. Her old and shabby clothes bring tears to her eyes. She prays to God for a better and different Diwali next year.
In The Heart Of The Slums And Within The Walls Of Orphanages, There Are Countless Children Who Long For Love And Happiness
For Pooja and many more like her, Diwali brings with it a sense of sadness. While many of us look forward to new clothes and special meals, these little souls can barely afford a single square meal a day, let alone the luxury of new clothes. The joy of Diwali remains a distant dream for them. Their eyes fill with hopelessness as they watch children their age enjoy themselves with their parents - the stark difference only pains them more.
These children suffer for no fault of their own - they yearn to be surrounded by loved ones, and long for a welcoming hug but fate had other plans for them.

About the NGO:
1.Snehgram:
Founded in 2014 by Mahesh and Vinaya Nimbalkar, the Snehgram Democratic School in Korfale Tehsil- Barshi District- Solapur, Maharashtra (India) provides a unique alternative to traditional models of education by offering children a self-directed approach to their learning. Students at the school, many of whom have slipped through the cracks of today’s regimented test-driven school system, flourish in a nurturing environment that allows them the freedom to chart their own course of learning while fostering emotional development.
2.Pochabhai Foundation
Started in 2008, Pochabai Foundation is committed to improving the lives of marginalized people and helping all those in need. Their work is focused particularly on the welfare of Dalit and Adivasi communities. They’re based largely out of the Tarapur district of Anand, Gujarat.
3. Voice Of Slum Voice of Slum is an NGO based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Its mission is to assimilate street children into mainstream society by providing them with quality education, exposure, and access to opportunities. The NGO is run by Dev and Chandni, who were born in slums, and who have been through it all.
