Stand With The Victims Of Cyclone Biparjoy In Gujarat Who’ve Lost Everything To This Disaster

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

News channels have been flooded with videos and the latest information about Cyclone Biparjoy. The term ‘Biparjoy’ literally means ‘disaster’ in Bangla and the cyclone is on course to become one with the longest lifespan in the Arabian Sea. Powerful winds and incessant rainfall have been lashing the 325-kilometer stretch of coast between Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan.

While around a lakh people have been evacuated and the Army, Navy, rescue teams and medicos are prepared for the worst, the common man is scared and prays for this nightmare to be over. Many of these people have worked hard for years, and now don’t know if they will even have a home to go back to.

Over 94,000 People Were Evacuated Already, But They’ve Lost Everything

As Cyclone Biparjoy came closer to the shore two days ago, over 94,000 people from low-lying areas were evacuated in Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Rajkot, Junagadh, Porbander and Gir Somnath The cyclone is on course to become the cyclone with the longest lifespan in the Arabian Sea.

Several people have lost their homes, with damage done to kutcha and pucca houses, roads, widespread damage to crops and uprooting of power poles and more. Mandavi and Jakhau Port in Gujarat have faced severe damage due to the constant, heavy rainfall. Barring one to two hours, these places have no electricity.

Times like these can be incredibly difficult to get through without any support. Thousands of people are left wondering how they will rebuild their lives again, educate their children, or support the elderly in their families. For them, it’s the darkest of days.

Your Support Can Help Them Stand On Their Feet Again

What the people of Gujarat need immediately are essentials like groceries, water bottles, and hygiene kits. These will ensure that they don’t starve amidst this tragedy and find the strength to move forward and stand on their own feet again.

Our on-ground NGOs - Making The Difference, Lok Seva Trust and Sankalp - are working hard to help the people in distress. Making The Difference is supporting people in Kutch and Surat, Lok Seva in Bhuj and Sankalp in Dwarka. They’re distributing meals to countless people in need. Earlier, you’ve shown your support for people from across India when tragedy struck - now it’s Gujarat’s turn. Lend them a helping hand so that they can overcome this crisis. The people of Gujarat need you.
