Amardeep Soni of Feeding Hands, Jaipur, shares a heartwrenching story of a man who started crying out loudly when he was served a free lunch from the food van in front of a hospital in Jaipur.

“I was surprised, I didn’t understand what was wrong. So I asked him. He said, that this was his first meal in three days. He had been hungry for so long but had no money to afford a single meal. It is for these people that we continue working tirelessly,” - Amardeep Soni, son of Iqbal Soni, Founder, of Feeding Hands.

Since 2018, Feeding Hands has been a ray of hope for all those helpless souls who have been starving for days. They started with just 100 meals and as of today, they feed 2500 meals daily. This has only been possible because of the determination and hard work of the team of Feeding Hands.

With their kindness, they have touched thousands of lives and fed countless hungry souls

Founded by the venerable businessman and humanitarian, Mr. Iqbal Singh Soni, Feeding Hands started its incredible journey in January 2018 coinciding with Mr. Soni's birthday.

Initially, the organization began by providing 100 meals in front of SMS Hospital, Jaipur.

As a part of a government initiative, food vans outside the hospital offered caretakers of patients meals at a subsidized cost. However, Mr. Soni soon discovered that many couldn't even afford these nominal prices. Undeterred, Soni, together with his son, Amardeep, Pankaj Jain, and Yogesh Narula decided to purchase 100 coupons and started providing these meals free of cost.

As word spread, friends and donors rallied around Feeding Hands. The organization adopted a food van, gradually increasing its daily meal count to over 900. However, during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government project came to a halt

“But my father was not ready to stop, especially at a time when so many people needed support. So, we partnered with hotels to cook meals and even used our home kitchen to serve over 2 lakh meals. Not just that, we also distributed thousands of dry ration kits, and even provided slippers to those in need.”

In October of the previous year, Feeding Hands took a giant leap forward by establishing a community kitchen. They’re now feeding a staggering 2500 people every day. At 90 years old, Mr. Iqbal Singh Soni's indomitable spirit persists, with his son now carrying the torch of compassion.

Feeding Hands allocates 2000 of these daily meals in front of five hospitals in Jaipur, including hospitals for rare condition patients, children, and women. The remaining 500 meals go to two NGOs dedicated to educating underprivileged children. Beyond lunches, Feeding Hands has collaborated with renowned stores in Jaipur, receiving 250 snacks and 350 cups of tea daily to provide comfort to the poor and hungry

“These people come from remote villages and use up all their money to get their family members treated. They can’t afford to eat at hotels, four times a day. We aim to feed them so that they can at least stop worrying about their daily meals and concentrate on taking care of their loved ones.”

Feeding Hands wants to ensure that no one, nowhere, at no time, should go hungry

This Jaipur-based NGO is on a mission to end hunger - they want to give every starving soul warm, nutritious food and ensure that they don’t sleep on an empty stomach. The task is huge but together with your support, they can make a real difference. You can donate groceries and fuel for their vehicles and help them reach out to many more people in need.

Amardeep recalls how an old man in tattered clothes once donated Rs 1000 because he was so touched by their service. When his wife was getting treated in the hospital, Feeding Hands ensured that this man got to eat warm meals. His gratitude was an eye-opener for Amardeep, he realised how intention and not means matter when it comes to serving those in need. This is your chance to join their noble mission - every donation counts.
