Gramin Gaushala Is Working Day & Night To Save Thousands Of Gaumatas From Life-Threatening Diseases

Radha had stopped giving milk when she had come to Gramin Gaushala. She was with her owner for so many years and the kind-hearted man didn't want to let her go. But neither could he take care of Radha on his own. This is where Gramin Gaushala came into the picture.

A safe home for over 3000 gaumatas in Delhi, this gaushala is spread over 9.5 acres in Bawana, Delhi. It was established in 1998 and since then, it has been a place where old, abandoned, and sick cows have been looked after with utmost care. 

Funded by the 360+ villages in and around the cow shelter, this gaushala is a unique one  

Gramin Gaushala runs with the help of the 360+ villages in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The villagers donate as much as possible; that is how the cows are being looked after. 

“The cows become old and are unable to produce milk. But their owners don’t want to abandon them on the road. So, they bring them here. Again, there are sick cows who are in need of treatment, the owners bring them to Gramin Gaushala so that they get the best possible care. We have veterinarians who serve the cows 24/7.” - Kishan Kumar, Gramin Gaushala.   

The cows who would have otherwise faced serious accidents or would have succumbed to their diseases are getting a second chance at life. Gramin gaushala works day and night to give these innocent animals a safe home - a place where they can get nutritious food and medicines when needed.

Gramin Gaushala uses Rs 80,000 worth of fodder every month for its 3000+ cows. Then there is the need for medicines too. While the villagers have been donating as and when they can to support the cows, the pandemic and its effect on the economy have become a major obstacle. 

“The villagers are still doing to the best of their abilities but sometimes it’s not enough. That’s why we need your support so that we can continue our gauseva. These cows deserve the best. All their lives, they have served us, now it is our turn.”
