She Quit Her Dream Job To Save Animals, Help Mugdha Build Them A New Home

Would you leave your dream job to look after the abandoned and the injured? 22 YO Mugdha Khatri has done exactly that - she has chosen the welfare of the voiceless souls in Uttarakhand and is on a mission to give them a better life. 

“All my life, I have been an animal lover. I had lost one of my pets to mistreatment and that’s the day I decided that I won’t let another life pass away like this. So when I got a call to join Indigo as an air hostess, something that I had always wanted to do - and I was forced to choose between my dream and my babies, I chose them,” - Mugdha Khatri, Founder, Healing Saathi. 

Animals face unspeakable cruelties from the humans, Mugdha works to give them a safe home 

Mugdha has always been feeding the strays in her neighborhood. During the pandemic, she noticed that it had become very difficult for the strays to find food and water. Slowly, she started feeding many more animals in need and once she saw the sick and injured ones lying on the road, she brought them home. The number kept increasing and Mugdha decided to open a shelter of her own for the helpless strays. 

“My mother has been my biggest supporter. She pawned her jewellery and with that money, I rented a small place and that’s how Healing Saathi began. Currently, we are taking care of around 70+ animals in need.”  

When asked about animal cruelty cases, Mugdha passionately talks about Roxie, a dog who suffered a lot when inconsiderate human beings threw colours at him during Holi. Healing Saathi rescued the poor dog and now Roxie is waiting to be adopted into a loving home. 

Mugdha wants to help many more animals like Roxie. The need is ever increasing and she needs a bigger place and separate rooms from dogs suffering from contagious diseases like canine distemper or Parvo. She also needs a constant supply of food for these animals.
