Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
I have always seen and encountered tribal peoples in many small and big cities but hardly I understood their sufferings which they went through while coming to these cities leaving their villages and hometowns.
In cities they don't have very good dwellings, neither they have good jobs nor the facility of clean drinking water while when they were in their villages they were quite content and happy but now in life's visually challenged race they also had to leave their homes and since they are uneducated and not having exposure to modern education due to which they finally land up in crowding slums of cities.
So I found ITCT is also doing something for the betterment of tribal communities and one of their objectives is to give them modern education along with the values of sanatana Dharma. As of now ITCT has opened 8 BVNS schools in different northeast states with a children count of 700
Recently ITCT has opened a new BVNS school in Labri village, of Barhait block in district sahibganj, jharkhand. Right now only 100-110 children are coming and we hope that in the next session count will increase. Now a days school commences from 10:00 to 15:00
This Campaign we have raised for our 8 schools which are running in different different parts of Assam, Tripura, Jharkhand, West Bengal.
Main tribes with which we deal are Santhals, Pahadias, reang, Dimasa, Tripuri, Karbi etc
Santhal and Paharia tribes are the main tribes spread across Bihar, Orissa, jharkhand, West Bengal and is the 3rd largest tribe of India.
Dimasa and Karbi tribes hail from Assam and tripuri and reang belong to tripura.
Because of British govt's exploitative land revenue policies and negligence of later govts these communities left economically and educationally very backward even after the independence.
We also face challenges in running the school while paying salaries to our teachers and staff as local villagers not having resources to support us. Because of this school they won't have to migrate or send their wards to cities for modern education and will get the modern education in a very cost effective way and that too at their doorstep.
ITCT, one of the most significant initiatives of ISKCON, is a public charitable trust formed under Indian Trust Act ' 1882. Since 2016, our dedicated monks and volunteers have made the best efforts to feed tribal children, educate them, solve the drinking water problem and educate tribal villagers
.
After 5 years, we have our presence in Tripura, Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
