Build A Safe Home For 350 Cows In Mathura, Support India Aid Foundation’s Mission
Project
As you step into the serene premises of the gaushala in Raval Dham, Mathura, you are immediately enveloped by a sense of purity and spirituality. Supported by the India Aid Foundation, this sanctuary is home to over 350 cows, lovingly nurtured on a sprawling 2.4 acres of land donated by the Foundation.
For the past three years, Radha Sharan and a dedicated team of sevaks have tirelessly cared for hundreds of cows in need. Many of these cows have been abandoned or have suffered severe accidents and were rescued by the team. The gaushala ensures that each cow receives nutritious food and clean water, and those that pass away are given a respectful burial.
This gaushala is more than just a shelter; it is a spiritual sanctuary
Speaking to us, Radh Sharan shares how Raval Dham in Mathura holds great spiritual significance for the devotees.
“It is where Radha Rani was born and she grew up with many cows, looking after them and tending to them. As a tribute to her legacy, we started this gaushala - we wish to look after all those cows who are either abandoned or sick and injured. Together with the authorities, we have also rescued many cows from slaughter houses.”
Every evening, during prayers, the cows gather and sit peacefully - the happiness and contentment they feel get reflected in their demeanour.
Despite the incredible work being done, the gaushala faces many challenges
One of the major problems that the gaushala is facing is providing a regular supply of nutritious fodder and medicines to the cows in their care. While they’re doing everything they can for these gentle creatures, there are days when they have to beg the shopkeepers for fodder.
“We have even gone hungry but have ensured that the gaumatas got a regular supply of food,” Radha Sharan says. The onset of the monsoon brings new problems with itself.
“The wet mud floor attracts harmful insects and mosquitoes, posing a threat to the cows' health, which is why we urgently need your help to lay a pucca floor and ensure a clean and safe environment for the animals. Besides this, we also need construction materials to build a storeroom to safeguard fodder from getting wet and spoiled, and a tin shed to protect the cows from harsh weather,” he adds.
Your support will help them reach out to many more cows in danger - donate now to make a difference.
