The BRU tribes generally known as Reang are spread across Tripura, Assam & Mizoram, but some recent conflicts with other tribes in Mizoram have forced thousands of Bru tribal people flee from their homes and take shelter in Tripura. Since then they are loving their lives with their family members in refugee camps in different locations of Tripura.
This communal clash between Bru and other tribes has its aftermath like a bolt from the blue for the innocent Reang tribal people and their children. They have lost their home, land and everything and are now living their lives in refugee camps set up by the Tripura State Government. They have to survive on the rations provided by the local administration.
India Tribal Care Trust is running 120+ pathshalas in 5 states and 12 districts where more than 5000 tribal kids are currently studying.India Tribal Care Trust Tripura unit is opening pathshalas for 300 refugee tribal children in one of these refugee base camp situated in Ambassa, in Dhalai district.
These pathshalas will be running full time like schools and since the majority of the Bru speaks English and Kokborok (their mother tongue) we will be teaching the students in English only. We have to recruit 12 teachers in the initial stage with a ratio of 1 teacher for 30 students plus one coordinator. We need urgent support to purchase pathshala stationeries: board, chalk, duster, seating mat etc. Also we will be providing meals to these children during lunch.
