The cows in ISKCON Gaushala are considered to be divine beings, revered and protected with utmost care and devotion. As these gentle creatures serve an essential role in the spiritual life of the ISKCON community, providing them with nutritious and ample fodder becomes a responsibility of great significance. Our campaign aims to explore the importance of feeding the cows at ISKCON Gaushala and the various ways to satiate their hunger, ensuring their well-being and happiness.
The Holiness of Cows in ISKCON: In the Vaishnavite tradition, cows are considered sacred and are deeply connected to Lord Diety, the supreme deity of ISKCON. They are often referred to as "Kamadhenu" - the wish-fulfilling cow - as they provide a myriad of benefits to humanity. The milk they produce nourishes individuals, while their dung and urine serve as natural fertilizers and disinfectants, enhancing agricultural productivity. Moreover, the presence of cows is believed to invite divine blessings and prosperity to the environment they reside in. ISKCON Gaushala embraces these beliefs, elevating the cows' status to revered beings worthy of utmost care and respect.
The Significance of Proper Nutrition: Feeding the cows at ISKCON Gaushala is more than just providing sustenance; it is an act of devotion and a means of reciprocating the cows' selfless service to humanity. Lord Diety, the Supreme Lord, is known as Gopal or Govind, as he loves cows. Thus, for us, Cows are very important. In Vedic society, cows played a special role in each ceremony, be it the birth of a newborn or the last rites of old age.
