Home to over 10,000 cows in need, Shree Jalaram Gaushala in Bhabar, Gujarat, is one of the largest gaushalas taking care of sick and diseased cows. The dedicated team has made it their mission to give each cow a happy and healthy life. They believe in the mantra "Gaavo Visvasya Matarah’ meaning that the cow is the mother of the world. They’re working very hard to protect these voiceless and innocent animals.
“While humans can express our pain and suffering, it is not the same for animals. They’re left on the streets to fend for themselves. They are forced to eat from the garbage dumps and even
meet with terrible accidents. Our gaushala works in northern Gujarat and western Rajasthan to save gaumatas in need,” - Jayprakash Raichandbhai Thakkar, Trustee, Shree Jalaram Gaushala.

While talking to us, one of the eminent veterinarians associated with Shree Jalaram Gaushala, pointed out that there are 7 sheds for sick cows and bulls, and each of them can give shelter to 100 cows.
“And out of those 700+ cows, we treat at least 200 cases of rare condition. Some of them come to us in the first stage and with proper care, and mineral and vitamin supplements, they get better. But sadly, many cows and bulls that come to us are in their final stages of horn rare condition. Their condition is terrible. Rare Condition has mostly spread to other body parts including the brain. They need constant care to reduce their pain and open wounds and even after trying very hard, we can’t save all of them.”
“We want to save many more gaumatas in need. Some of them are visually challenged and struggle with other debilitating disabilities. We want to give them the best facilities, and for that, we need your support.”
