Riddhi And Akash Want To Give 600+ Strays In Bhopal A Safe Home, You Can Help Them

“I am a farmer’s daughter. All my life, I have seen my father caring for animals who have been abandoned - cows who could no longer give milk or dogs and cats who have been hurt. I have always had pets but it was much later that I saw the suffering of strays and since then I have wanted to do something for them,” - Riddhi Paliwal, Co-founder, Kartavya Animal And Social Welfare Society. 

Riddhi Paliwal and Akash Saxena have become known names in the animal welfare sector in Bhopal. For the last 8 years, they have dedicated their lives to looking after hundreds of stray animals who have no one to care for them. 

“People measure success by the amount of money they make. I guess, that is one way too but for Akash and me, the happy faces of the puppies and their wagging tails make our day. Seeing them eat to their heart’s content and feeling safe during the harshest weather, counts as success to us,”. 

The journey these two friends embarked upon has saved hundreds of animals in need 

Riddhi and Akash met during a coaching class and immediately realised they had something in common - their love for animals. At that moment, they decide to come together to work towards the welfare of animals. Hence, Kartavya Animal And Social Welfare Society was founded in 2014 with a common goal, to rescue, feed and rehabilitate animals in need.

“We have been feeding over 600 dogs every day and we ensure they are vaccinated on time, spayed, neutered and their medical needs are taken care of. We are truly like a family now, and every dog is important to us.”   

Even during the COVID lockdown, this duo did everything they could to continue feeding these voiceless souls. It was difficult - getting nutritious food, proper medicines, treating the injured - but they didn’t think of stopping at all. 

“My father is a farmer and he has taught me that one should never abandon an animal, we are their only hope. So,now we want to build a shelter home for these strays so that we can give them the care they deserve.”

A shelter home for the strays is essential to give them continued treatment and to ensure that they get all-round care. They wish to create a safe, hygienic, loving environment for animals undergoing treatment so that these poor animals can fight back and overcome their suffering. 

“We have seen miracles happen with love and care and the right treatment. These animals deserve a second chance, they deserve to live a happy, carefree life, not one where they are pelted with stones and they have to eat from the garbage. You can help us give them a safe home.”
