“I started feeding stray dogs with my father over 12 years ago. He was so dedicated to making sure they were well taken care of and would never miss a day. A few years ago he had a heart attack and passed away while he was feeding them, and I still remember what he told me the day before - ‘mere bachho ka khayal rakhna’ (take care of my kids). That’s what they were to him, his children, his everything. And today, I’m continuing his mission through Karunna Charitable Trust.” - Kavita Singhvi, Founder, Karunna Charitable Trust

Kavita is single handedly helping hundreds of stray animals in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. More than 10,000 stray animals roam the streets of this city, and Kavita’s aim is to reach as many of them as possible.

Kavita Feeds 500+ Stray Dogs Every Day

Started over 2 years ago, Karunna Charitable Trust is committed to the welfare of street dogs, cats, and other small species. Kavita not only rescues these animals but also ensures their given shelter, food, and any medical treatment they need. Today, Kavita feeds over 500 stray dogs every day without fail.

“I still remember my first rescue. Someone rang my doorbell late at night to tell me that there was a puppy hurt on the road. It had been hit by a vehicle. The puppy was injured and couldn't walk. He had no sensation in his hind legs. It took months and months of medicines and rehab, but I didn’t give up. Today he walks and even runs! This is why I continue doing what I do.”

However, all of Kavita’s efforts haven’t been without her fair share of challenges. She’s been struggling to set up a shelter for the stray animals that she takes in and also finds it difficult to take them to the veterinary clinic without an ambulance. Carrying injured stray dogs herself has also led to a few health issues as well. Kavita now needs your help to continue her mission and carry out her father’s wishes.
