Help Akshay To Fight Against Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD)

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

Akshay Bhadange, age 22, is a son of a marginalised farmer from Vidarbha region in Maharashtra. His family supports itself by tilling their small farmland and working as a casual labour.

He is suffering from kidney problem since last 10 years and had undergone kidney transplant in the year 2013. His mother donated her kidney to him and was much content, about him living a normal life.

Unfortunately, after one year of the transplant, he got infected with Hepatitis-B and was diagnosed with Type - 1 diabetes. His donated kidney began to fail and after three years of all efforts from the doctors of Nair Hospital, in the month of April 2017, the doctors declared that his kidney had failed.

Thereafter, the doctors decided to put him on PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) as regular dialysis was not helping him. At present he is recovering well and getting better every passing day.

He requires dialysis on a daily basis costing him Rs. 800/- per day and the annual cost is approximately Rs 3,00,000/-.

Doctors have also registered him for a new kidney transplant waiting list and are hopeful that in a year or so his new kidney transplant will be undertaken.

Currently, his father has moved along with him to Mumbai (where his son is undergoing his treatment) and is working as a watchman for daily sustenance.

Akshay has also enrolled himself for a course in ‘Back office support’ with the help of a NGO who has promised him a decent job post his successful recovery.

As per his doctor’s opinion if he responds well to Peritoneal Dialysis, he will be able to resume his regular work in a year’s time.
