December is here, and with it comes the bitter cold in many places across India. There are reports of the cold wave across North India, and Varanasi is no exception. This city on the banks of the Ganges is one of great significance. You will find many people offering their prayers or even performing the last rites of their loved ones on the ghats of this holy city. Known for the numerous temples and the vibrant culture, Varanasi is special.
Unfortunately, the city has also seen some of the most amounts of suffering in the recent past. And this winter, the homeless people on the streets of Varanasi fear the worst.
Making The Difference Wants To Lend A Helping Hand
Founded by Mr. Deepak Vishwakarma in 2014, Making The Difference has been working towards improving the quality of life for the underprivileged through nutrition, healthcare and education.
“Our aim is to break the vicious cycle of poverty and social isolation. We believe that every person has the right to access resources and opportunities in order to live a dignified life. There’s so much suffering around us - people struggling for every meal, every day. The pandemic only made it worse. Making The Difference has also been relentlessly working to provide every kind of help during this pandemic. They have helped distribute thousands of grocery kits and have also worked closely with all public hospitals and nursing homes to provide people with life-saving healthcare equipment and supplies, to cope with the significant stress on the hospital system.
This Mumbai-based NGO now wants to do its bit to help the homeless people of Varanasi survive the bitter cold this winter.

Thousands of people on the streets of Varanasi have struggled through the worst during the pandemic. This winter, they might suffer the same fate if they don’t get urgent help. With no roof or warm clothes to keep them safe, they risk falling severely ill.

About the NGO:
Making the Difference was established in 2014 by Mr Deepak Vishwakarma. It's an NGO based in Mumbai formed with an aim to serve the needy and underprivileged communities. The NGO has been working relentlessly during this time of crisis to serve people from various sections of society.
