Every Drop Of Water Is Precious In The Dry Regions Of Rajasthan, Donate Water This Summer

Project
Indian summers are known for their severe heat and with the temperature soaring daily, it is becoming increasingly difficult for people to survive. A large part of India is affected by scorching heat waves claiming lives. The situation is worse in the arid villages of Rajasthan. These villages don’t have access to clean drinking water and are suffering immensely during the summer months. Something as basic as water shouldn’t be a cause of worry for countless people but unfortunately, it is. It is especially plaguing women and young girls.
Manthan Sanstha is working with the local communities to give them a much-needed respite
“While the male members of the family go out to work early in the morning, the women and the young girls have to walk miles to fetch water. Every drop of water is precious to them. Little girls walk with heavy pails of water in the scorching heat of the sun - girls who should be busy in their school struggle to get water to their family members. Their entire day revolves around this humongous task and in the process, their physical health gets adversely affected,” - Teja Ram Mali, Coordinator, Manthan Sanstha.
Located in Kotri village, Roopangarh Tehsil, Kishangarh Block, Ajmer District, Rajasthan, India, Manthan works on diverse local issues related to sustainable development along with empowering marginalized and excluded communities in 120 villages of Ajmer and Nagaur districts. Since 1998, the organisation has been striving to build an equal and equitable society by enhancing local knowledge and culture and using traditional methods of conserving natural resources.
Teja Mali Ji explains that these villages are surrounded by the Sambhar Lake (salt lake) and thus the groundwater is salty in taste.
“This water can’t be used for cooking, drinking purposes, etc and families have to walk for miles to get water for regular use. It is a difficult task, especially for widows, old people, and those who’re physically challenged.”
The organisation wants to construct in-house tanks in the villages so that they can store water and use it during summer. They aim to build such tanks for 50-60 families and this will impact nearly 500 people. These tanks will be filled with the help of water tankers and will finally give these families a much-needed respite.
Join hands with Manthan to make this dream a reality
Last time, with the help of over 500 kind donors of Donatekart, Manthan was able to build 9 in-house tanks for those houses that can’t afford even a single bucket of water. This time too, they need your help to reach out to many more families in need. You can donate construction materials for the tanks as well as donate water tankers to fill up these storage facilities. Every donation you make will save a life, make a difference now.
