This Man Has Installed 200 Water Pots In Mirzapur To Quench Thirst And Save Lives, Support Him

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

During the scorching summer months, temperatures in the state of Uttar Pradesh soar above 40 degrees Celsius. The air becomes heavy and humid, making it difficult to walk even short distances. In this challenging climate, thousands of impoverished people in rural areas lack access to clean drinking water, let alone water for basic needs.

However, for the past six years, the people in Mirzapur have found a saving grace in Ghanshyam Singh Maurya, who is fondly known as the 'Matka Man', and his wife, Shashilata. They fight the blistering heat to provide fresh water to thousands of people during the summers with a simple yet effective concept - placing over 200 water pots in various areas and giving countless people fresh water through these difficult months.

They’re Not Just Quenching Thirst, But Saving Lives

Ghanshyam is 48 years old now, and throughout his life, he’s seen several people impacted by the lack of fresh water. Many from his own family. Drinking unclean water can have serious consequences for health as it often contains harmful substances that can cause waterborne illnesses. Access to clean, safe drinking water is essential for preventing these health risks and promoting well-being.

“My own experiences have motivated me to help people in need. I come from a remote hilly area where resources are scarce, and I’ve seen my parents suffer due to the unavailability of clean water. I don’t want anyone else to go through the same.” - Ghanshyam

Ghanshyam and Shashilata take their small cart with a water tank and refill clean water in 200 pots that they have installed in the surrounding areas twice a day. During this time, they come across many people who barely have access to water during the day, people who have walked long distances, worked all day, or are just passing by. The water is available for anyone and everyone who needs it.

With Your Support, They Can Help Many More People Who Are Suffering During Summer

Ghanshyam and Shashilata run a small store to make a living. They use their earnings to get clean water and provide it to countless people in need. However, they are struggling to continue their selfless service without any donations or support.

"We've experienced unemployment and poverty firsthand, so we understand the struggles people face. That's why we're unwavering in our efforts to help. There have been occasions when we've even provided slippers to those we've seen walking barefoot near water sources. However, to extend our reach and sustain our work, we need your help.”

The Matka Man relies on your support to provide water pots, slippers, and hand towels, enabling him to assist even more people during this critical time.
