Help Nandu Lal care for 300+ Abandoned & Injured Cows In Vrindavan

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

When you enter Nandu Lal Joshi’s gaushala in Vrindavan you are greeted by the smiling face of Zorika. A happy cow, she has found her forever home in this sanctuary, away from starvation, pain and abandonment. She is not the only one who is being taken care of in this one-of-a-kind cow sanctuary in this holy city of Vrindavan.

Gauri Priya, another cow, came to this gaushala in 2006 as a little girl of just a few months. She ended up on the streets after being thrown out by her previous owner. Some fruit and vegetable sellers took pity on her and fed her until one day she was injured after being hit by a car. She was nursed back to health and since then, she has been a part of this cow sanctuary.

    How it all started

Kurma Rupa Prabhu,Nandu Lal Joshi’s guruji (teacher), was born to Mexican parents and grew up in New York. At 21, he was drafted for the Vietnam War. While he was in the army,he prayed for the first time in his life - asking Almighty to help him go back from the war. He promised to serve him if he could go back. Soon after, Kurma Rupa was allowed to leave the army and didn’t have to go to Vietnam and he felt obliged to fulfill his side of the bargain.

The International Society for Diety Consciousness provided the answer, and he joined the society’s center on 55th street in Manhattan. Around 1999 when Kurma Rupa Prabhu moved to a house in Madhuvana Colony from the USA and that’s when he started taking care of the cows and bulls.

A kind-hearted soul, Prabhuji started feeding the cows in and around the colony. Soon, more and more cows came and in his own words, Lord Diety tricked him into caring for these homeless, injured, innocent animals. Since then till his demise in 2015, there was no looking back. Now his disciples, Nandu Lal being one of the foremost, are taking care of around 250-300 cows and bulls in the sanctuary. They provide stray cows hay, flour, fresh grass, medical attention and a place where they can recuperate from injuries.

    They need your help now

However, currently, the gaushala is in need of help. The sheds where the cows stay have been damaged completely after enduring years of rain and sun. They need to be repaired and new ones need to be made at the earliest. The cows need regular care - some need medicines as well. But despite trying their best, it is getting difficult for them to look after over 300 cows and bulls. They need fodder, sheds as well as construction material to expand the gaushala so that they can look after many more animals in need.

These innocent animals have no one other than us. If we are unable to look after them then they will die a painful death on the streets or in the slaughterhouses. That is not something that we want for them. But taking care of them on our own is becoming a difficult task. We need your help - even a small contribution will make a huge difference,” - Nandu Lal Joshi

Nandu Lal Joshi’s gaushala needs your support to provide fodder and shelter for its cows. With your help, they will feed and take care of all those cows in need - those who have been left on the streets to fend for themselves. donate to save hundreds of cows.
