Need Base India (A foundation for Child Care and Development)is a non-profit organization started in Dec 2009 with the intention to work towards addressing the basic and fundamental rights of child care, protection, health and education for children living on streets, runaway children, orphans, children out of school or children under challenging situations.  Mr. Rahim S Director is been working with the children issues for the past 15 years and was also a member of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) at Bangalore since Feb 2007 to 2010.The organization vision is ‘To stand for the Child Rights and Guarantee that Every Child get a Happy Childhood, thus enabling children to become responsible citizens’.

Need Base India works with those families who do not have the capacity in bringing-up their children for whatever may be the reason.  Under such circumstances one cannot expect that the children will be safe and also the opportunity for keeping the child and family together may not be possible by considering the child rights perspective.  So to ensure care and protection, we are running seven residential centers’ at Bangalore in the Govt. School premises.

Street children are most vulnerable as they are easy victims of abuse and inhuman treatment.  They are often engaged in petty theft or prostitution for economic survival and spend on abuse, gambling, drinking etc,. Street children with normal behavior are admitted to our rehabilitation center and provided counseling, training and orientation. For children with hard abuses and substance abuse, more time and effort are needed, and 30-day ‘School Motivation Camp’ are organized to motivate them to give-up street life, covering below areas.

The children we try to rehabilitate often come from families with very difficult home situations that are unsuitable for the child’s comprehensive growth. We run homes within the govt. school premises to help such children, providing all basic amenities and a secure environment. They enjoy all the benefits of being inside a regular school, including activities and interactions with more privileged peer groups. This positive environment enables each child to grow and reach his/her full potential. The “?Every Child in School” project was started in June 2014, with the aim to provide every child with the opportunity to attend school. It is a fundamental right of the child to go to school, and we intend to do work in Karnataka and other states to put back all children that have dropped out of school.? 250 children have been admitted back to school so far and 100 children out are currently attending a bridge-course before admission.
