Bihar is the third most populous state in India and it is home to 47 million children, almost half (46 percent) of the State's 104 million people, and the highest proportion of children of any state in India. Darbhanga, one of the major districts of Bihar, has around 75.65% literacy rate as per the 2011 census. 

Like many other districts in the state, Darbhanga is no stranger to the problems of child labour, widespread poverty, deep-rooted socio-cultural and gender inequalities, caste divisions, poor infrastructure, lack of basic services, and recurring natural disasters. The only way out of this is to educate the children and make them aware of their rights and privileges. Parth Prajapati Seva Foundation is doing just that to create a positive social change.
