    Project

Sewadham Ashram is a beacon of hope for many people. Since 1989, it has been a home for the homeless, the challenged, mentally ill, dying, and destitute people including abandoned old people and special children who have nowhere else to go. A non-partisan, interfaith organisation, it is renowned both nationally and internationally.

Founded by Shri Sudhir Bhai Goyal, Sewadham Ashram operates on the principle of "Manav Sewa - Madhav Sewa"; i.e. service to humanity is service to God. As part of their mission, they rehabilitate and provide shelter, hygienic nutritious food, health care, self-reliance, and allied services for people in need, without any discrimination. People come to Sewadham from across the nation to find solace and comfort and they are greeted with open arms and compassion.

Sewadham Ashram- a safe haven for the needy for the last 32 years

Sewadham has been working tirelessly for the last 32 years to give the abandoned and needy a better life. It has been a home for more than 8,000 suffering people and helped them get a new lease of life, with nearly 4000 people being rehabilitated. Sewadham also specialises in palliative care where they provide a comfortable place in their last few days.

Over 3000 people have been given last rites by Sewadham, according to their own individual religious beliefs. Dedicated work done by Sewadham has benefitted more than 7 lacs rural, tribal, and urban people. They have helped over 500 people through eye donation programs; organized around 250 eye and health camps benefiting over 2 lac people. It has donated more than 150 bodies to medical colleges.

I wanted to become a doctor. But I had the golden opportunity of meeting Acharya Vinoba Bhave in 1976 and that changed all that. He told me that the soul of India was in its villages and in fact true service to humanity lay in serving in the villages. This urged me to start Sewadham Ashram and now we house over 700 residents,” - Sudhir Goyal, Founder-Director.

When the pandemic hit, Sewadham did not back off from their mission of Serving Suffering Humanity to help people in need. In fact, they increased their efforts to help the poor and marginalized and distributed food to over 4,70,000 people during the lockdown.
