SDIF is Working Day And Night To Give Oxygen Supplies To The Needy, Support Them
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
Project
The pandemic is no longer a list of numbers and statistics that we are reading about in the newspapers or in a Twitter thread. The COVID-19 second wave has hit home and almost everyone has lost someone to the wrath of the pandemic.
The situation is dire and any amount of help can make a difference. Social Data Initiatives Forum (SDIF), a Secundrabad-based NGO, is working very hard to provide Oxygen Concentrators and oxygen cylinders to the poor and downtrodden in the society.
Patients with advanced infection from city and districts are brought to Gandhi Government Hospital in rickety ambulances, usually without oxygen support. Due to shortage of beds and lack of empathy on part of ambulance drivers, they are abandoned outside the emergency entrance. This causes enormous physical trauma and mental stress on patients and attendants.
SDIF immediately offers oxygen support to
patients waiting for their admission formalities to be completed, which takes
30 mins to 4 hours.
Separately SDIF and associates have more
than 150 oxygen cylinders and concentrators
in circulation amongst the slums and poorer habitations of Hyderabad. In
most cases, patients cannot afford hospitalisation and are undergoing home
treatment. SDIF plays a critical role in ensuring they get continuous oxygen
support almost free of cost. We plan to add more cylinders to all poorer
habitations of the twin cities.
Through the use of technology, SDIF,
together with their volunteers have provided the momentum that helps in
bringing about change. Using data driven models, they provide solutions that
make a long-lasting difference.
About the NGO: SDIF has been working tirelessly on the ground since the pandemic struck last March, 2020. SDIF designed and developed a free ration mobile app that enabled them to reach out to thousands of families across India who were impacted by the crisis. The app partnered with 10,000 + kirana stores across India to provide free ration kits to sustain a family for 10 days that constituted groceries, toiletries and sanitary pads.
SDIF is also the lead organization of the
Hyderabad Flood Relief Coalition, which was formed to help and support those
affected by the unprecedented rains in October 2020. Our partners included
national and international organisations like UNICEF and Goonj.
The coalition rescued over 2500 individuals
in the first 48 hours with the assistance of of Hyd yacht club. Post this a
thorough survey of the affected areas was conducted by about 500 volunteers.
17,000 of the most affected families were identified and provided with relief
kits.
The coalition also helped resettle displaced families while more than 300 damaged homes were repaired. Small businesses were given support. Media coverage on SDIF https://sdif.in/in-the-media
