Project
Sudheekshan Foundation's main aim is to create lasting changes in society for happy, healthy, and safe living. The foundation’s vision is to create a knowledgeable society by spreading education and road safety awareness. Based in Diety District, Andhra Pradesh, the foundation is working hard to reach its goals.
Scope of their service:
Every year, nearly 1.45 lakh people are dying and over 5 lakh people are maimed in India alone due to road traffic accidents. Research shows that it could be prevented if we put some effort into it.
“Sudeekshan was just 20 when the mishap happened, he was due for better things but an accident took away his life. It was after that I started Sudeekshan Foundation in 2006. My only source of happiness is the fact that I have an organisation in my son’s name and that is my medium to give back to the society and keep the memories of my son alive,” - Smt. Vimala Devi, Founder of Sudeekshan Foundation.
Because of her personal loss, Vimala always wanted to spread awareness about road safety. As a result, the road safety programme is the major activity of the Foundation. It aims to decrease road traffic fatalities and works in tandem with higher officials from Traffic Police, Road Transport Department, National Highway Authority and other Government Agencies. The Foundation organizes a number of awareness programs, seminars, meetings, signature campaigns and rallies regarding this.
Not only this, the Foundation also wants to help all those victims of road traffic accidents who have lost their hands or legs by giving them prosthetic limbs. They get around 10-15 requests every month for prosthetic limbs, each costing around 50k-1L. Out of this, they can only serve 6 requests as they don’t have the financial capacity. Vimala is looking forward to raising funds and helping as many as she can with your help.
““So many of these accident survivors are children and youth below 30. It is heart wrenching to see them suffer without a hand or a leg, in so much pain. I am reminded of my son. I would do anything to get him back. But now that I can’t, I want to save as many young people as possible.”
You can make a difference
“Everyone deserves a second chance. My son didn’t get it but a mother’s heart knows the pain. So, I want to do my bit to help them. Alone, I won’t be able to do much, please come forward and help me,” - Vimala, requests.
Vimala plans to give prosthetic limbs to all those young accident survivors who are in dire need of it but are unable to afford it. Your generous contribution can give someone a better and happier life - be the reason someone smiles again, help Vimala save lives.
