SAMARTHA Trust is a non-profit organization started in April 2019 in Bangalore. The organization works towards creating an inclusive and equal society for children who are differently abled. The first step in the social mainstreaming of such children begins with their enrolment in school and sensitizing the immediate community (that includes home, neighbors, and school) around them. The NGO has developed community-based sensitization programs revolving around the issue with an aim to promote sensitivity, awareness, and, most importantly, social inclusion of otherwise vulnerable children. Thus, giving these children, like any other, their rightful and equal chance towards growth and development.

Along with the physical challenges of their disabilities, people with disabilities have to overcome several other hurdles every day. This includes the stigma that they have to face from society.

Many challenged children, adults, and senior citizens are left alone by their families without anyone to turn to. They are not given the same opportunities as those who do not have disabilities and are excluded by those around them. This not only makes their day-to-day survival difficult but also severely restricts their ability to hope for a better future.

Whether it’s at school or getting a job, people with disabilities are just not given the due they deserve. Due to their financial background, many aren’t even given the help they need. However, we can make a difference.

To give the community of children with disabilities an opportunity to realize their potential, enjoy freedom from discrimination, and live with dignity. To empower communities and children with disabilities with appropriate skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes to overcome poverty, illiteracy, diseases, and social injustice. We are running a boy's hostel for children in need of care and protection. There are 20 boys, and it is running in the residential homes. Secondly, we are running a disability center for 25 children in a government school, Ajanappa Garden, in Bangalore.

About the NGO: SAMARTHA TRUST is a non-profit organization started with the aim to promote a barrier-free society for a child with disabilities and orphan children. They are part of our society, but unfortunately, they are not in their rightful place. To increase and encourage community participation, SAMARTHA believes in sensitizing the community and making a respectful place for them in society. For the accomplishment of social inclusion, mainstreaming them in school, constant efforts are made at the grassroots level by implementing apt programs in association with the school and community-based groups.
