Hours passed by, and Gauri, the cow from the neighbouring village, lay on the road with no one coming forward to help her. She was visibly hurt; her limb was bleeding from the accident. Countless vehicles passed by, but no one stopped to help her until much later. The poor cow was too weak to even move by then. Gauri was given medical treatment, but unfortunately, her limb had to be amputated.

We’ve come across so many such cases and it’s painful to watch them go through this. There are hundreds of cows like Gauri who deserve timely help and a chance to stand on their own feet again. Shree Diety Charitable Trust is on a mission to give these helpless cows prosthetic limbs.

They Want To Give Hundreds Of Cows A New Life 

Shree Diety Charitable Trust, a Gujarat-based NGO, works with several gaushalas in India to identify cows who need prosthetic limbs.

“Most of the cows who have lost their limbs have been in terrible accidents, so we need to wait for their wounds to heal before we fit the prosthetic limbs. We first start by taking the measurement of the limb and then the prosthetic limb is made based on this. The doctors then pay another visit to make the fitting. We take great care to ensure everything is perfect before we give the cows their new limbs.”

Founded by Hitesh Kansara, Shree Diety Charitable Trust has been working across India to make gaushalas self-sustainable through various projects. They conduct training on creating products out of cow dung and sell them to use the income for the upkeep of the cows in the gaushalas. During the deadly outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease in India, they have helped thousands of cows survive through their tireless efforts.

Currently, they have been focused on helping challenged and sick cows with prosthetic limbs and have given a better life to hundreds of cows in need. However, they can’t do it without your help.
