Lumpy Skin Disease Is Killing Thousands Of Gaumatas, Donate To Save Their Lives

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

Thousands of cattle in the Saurashtra belt of Gujarat State have succumbed to the dangerous Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) and over 16 districts in Rajasthan have been affected by the same. The viral infection of the cattle started in the state of Gujarat which has more than thousands of cases and has spread fast to northern Rajasthan too. This is slowly turning out to be an epidemic that is going out of control and has already started affecting cattle in the state of Haryana and Punjab. The situation is dire and the need is urgent as countless innocent lives are at stake now.

What is Lumpy Skin Disease and how can one combat it?

The viral disease is spread by blood-feeding insects such as certain species of flies, mosquitos, or ticks and through contaminated food and water. It causes acute fever, discharge from the eyes and nose, salivation, soft blister-like nodules all over the body, marked reduction in milk yield, difficulty in eating, and in worst cases, even death.

“The people are getting panicky. They’re scared that they would lose these animals. While the government is trying its best to help, they’re yet to come up with an allopathic medicine that can treat the gaumatas. After a lot of research, we have come up with an Ayurvedic medicine kit that has shown positive results,” - Amar Kumar, Shree Diety Charitable Trust.

Founded by Hitesh Kansara, Shree Diety Charitable Trust has been working across India to make gaushalas self-sustainable through various projects. They conduct training on creating products out of cow dung and sell them to use the income for the upkeep of the cows in the gaushalas. Currently, they have been focused on helping challenged and sick cows with prosthetic limbs and have given a better life to hundreds of cows in need.

The medicine kit by the Trust is a combination of preventative as well as combative ones. It will not only help in fighting the disease in the cows but also improve their immunity. They want to provide this medicinal kit for free to various gaushalas to help save many gaumatas in need.

Your timely help can make a huge difference

While the Trust is working very hard with a group of dedicated volunteers to stop the spread of this dangerous disease and save as many lives as possible, they need your help to reach out to many more in need.

“These poor animals can’t express their pain but one can only imagine how they might be feeling with multiple pus-filled blisters on their body. They’re weak and tired and many have even stopped eating. The situation is worry-inducing and we need all the support we can get now. Please help us give these medicinal kits to the gaushalas - your one donation will save many lives.”
