What Started With One Cow Is Now A Safe Haven For Countless Sick & Abandoned Gaumatas In Rajkot

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

Fifteen years ago, in Rajkot, Gujarat, a beautiful story of compassion started with just one cow. Today, Shyam Gaushala stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of Karan Chauhan and Jaya Ben Saresa. This haven is home to over 1000 cows, including 500 calves. It has become a refuge for the abandoned and sick, a place where every heartbeat matters.

“We’ve seen our gaushala grow with every passing year, and now people reach out to us when they see a sick or abandoned cow. Recently, we rescued a cow who was lying helplessly on the road. We rushed to the place, brought her back to our gaushala and ensured she got the treatment she needed. Today, when we call out to her by her name, she comes to us. These animals are so loving, empathetic and gentle. And I’m so grateful we get to experience this every day.” - Karan Chauhan

Battling Neglect & Abandonment, These Cows Live A Life Of Suffering

At Shyam Gaushala, the majority of cows that arrive are either ill or injured. Sadly, many of them have been abandoned by their owners after they have grown old or become sick. However, it is the youngest of these innocent creatures that suffer the most. Calves, full of life and hope, are often subjected to immense cruelty simply because some consider them "useless." Nonetheless, Shyam Gaushala provides them with the love and care they need.

“Every life, regardless of age, deserves to be valued. These cows, both young and old, hold a special place in our sanctuary. We have formed a deep bond with them over the years. However, many people no longer see them as valuable. As farmers have turned to tractors for their farming needs, older cows and calves are often left abandoned.”

Karan and Jaya are dedicated to rescuing cows every day. They provide the cows with the utmost love and care, ensuring they receive all necessary medical treatment and healthy food. However, behind the scenes of Shyam Gaushala's haven, they face a silent struggle. The cost of medical bills can soar up to 50,000 rupees per month, and sometimes providing enough food becomes a challenge.

Despite this, Karan and Jaya believe that every rupee spent on these cows is an investment in compassion. However, their challenges only seem to be increasing.

You Can Help Them Build A Safe Home For All Cows

Shyam Gaushala dreams of a better future for all cows. They need your help to provide fodder and medicines for the 1000+ cows under their care. With your support, they also aim to construct shelters for the cows and storage facilities for the fodder.

Your contribution will rescue hundreds of cows in Gujarat from pain, suffering, and abandonment. By donating, you can help ensure that these cows receive the care and attention they deserve.
