When you meet Swami Ramesh, you instantly notice how much he loves animals. He treats them with kindness and care. Living a simple life in Ayodhya, he embodies its values through his actions. Despite surviving on alms, he dedicates most of it to caring for the animals around him. He is a devoted soul who has been tirelessly feeding the monkeys for the past couple of years. Every single day, without fail, he ensures these creatures are fed with love and care. However, he needs our help to continue this noble mission. 

“These monkeys struggle a lot trying to get proper food. Often they get shooed away by human beings who are scared of them. But they’re harmless. A little love and kindness can make a big difference,” - Swami Ramesh ji.  

Swamiji considers these monkeys his own family - his sole mission is to help them survive  

Ayodhya has a huge population of monkeys and their presence is deeply intertwined with the heritage and beliefs. Considered sacred, these animals hold a special place in India’s culture too. 

“But over the years, I have noticed so much hate in people when it comes to these animals. They hurt them and sometimes even leave them to die. It is heartbreaking to find them in such conditions…”  

Swamiji lives all alone and spends his entire time and energy feeding the monkeys. Every day, he feeds around 400-500 monkeys along the banks of the Sarayu river, including Nayaghat, Janki Mahal, Choti Chawni, and Mani Parvat. He goes on his electric rickshaw and distributes fresh fruits, chana, etc to the monkeys. These monkeys are dependent on him and even on days when he is sick, he doesn’t miss a single day of feeding them. 

“They are no less than my family. They’re all I have and I want your support to continue feeding these voiceless souls.”  

The increasing human population and urbanization have led to conflicts between humans and monkeys. As humans encroach on their natural habitats shrink, these animals are forced to venture into human settlements in search of food, leading to clashes and misunderstandings. Ramesh Ji's efforts not only address the immediate need of feeding these animals but also help mitigate such conflicts by providing them with sustenance in their natural habitats.
