A Digital Device Is A Lifeline - Give These Children A Chance To Learn

    Project

The nationwide lockdown has changed things drastically for us. Not only did it teach us to be more empathetic to the ones around us, but also helped us realise how privileged we truly are. Having a place to call home, and a way to study and learn has become a privilege.

Today, in this digital age digital devices have become a bare necessity. This has truly been cemented during the Coronavirus lockdown. As schools across the nation had to shut their doors and send children home, even mainstream education has been forced to go digital.

While this might not seem like a large need to a child in a city, it’s extremely huge for a child who comes from a poor family. Many of these children come from homes where their parents have little or no formal education at all. The need to impart online education also gives rise to the sharp unequal digital divide across the country.

According to a survey by NSSO, it was observed that while 24 percent of Indians own a smartphone, only 11 percent households possess any type of computer. This could include desktop computers, laptops, note books, net books, palmtops or tablets.

This shows how unequal access to devices can impair online learning. We’re living in a time where it could take a while for children to get back to school. It’s crucial to ensure that these children don’t fall behind their more privileged peers or miss out on education entirely.

As the pandemic continues, we witness a huge gap in education access where poor kids are unable to attend any classes simply because they don’t have access to a digital device. We need your help to provide these children with a digital device.

Something as simple as a Tablet can be a miracle for these children: it’s their gateway to a better future and a chance to stay on the same digital footing as everyone else.

You can help them achieve their dreams. Donate a tablet today.
