People often assume that the usage of crowdfunding platforms is most prevalent in major cities where there’s more access to resources, technology and awareness about the concept of crowdfunding. However, in the last few years, crowdfunding platforms have gone beyond tier-1 city limits and have impacted lives even in the most remote villages of India.
To the surprise of many, there are now hundreds of NGOs from tier-2 cities that are seeking the help of crowdfunding and even benefitting from it. Whether it’s Mangalore, Karnataka or Dhanbad, Jharkhand, these NGOs have been able to scale their impact with the support of platforms like Donatekart.
Breaking Barriers
Deepak Kumar, the founder of Nand Care Foundation, works day and night to ensure that the families of coal miners and tribals in Dhanbad have a better life. He distributes grocery kits and cooked meals to hundreds of them. At the peak of the pandemic, Over 43,000 people came together to help raise over 3.8 crore worth of grocery items – this was truly life-changing for the coal miners of Dhanbad.
For someone who isn’t from Dhanbad, finding out about the NGO or even being able to help the community might have been out of reach if not for crowdfunding.
Sheeba’s Ameer’s NGO in Thrissur, Kerala, Solace, is her heartfelt attempt at helping all those families who are struggling to provide treatment to their children suffering from terminal diseases. Sheeba, who lost her daughter to cancer, has been a ray of hope for countless people, and was able to get nearly a thousand supporters for her campaign on Donatekart.
Just like Sheeba, Charan Kaur’s Kartar Asra in Chandigarh also received support through crowdfunding where she was able to get grocery kits to feed the abandoned homeless people and underprivileged children at the shelter. She also received construction materials for a medical centre.
The impact in tier 2 cities has not just been on people – animals too have benefitted greatly. Whether it’s Hingonia Gaushala in Jaipur, Rajasthan or Kartavya Animal And Social Welfare Society in Bhopal, hundreds of voiceless creatures have been given healthy meals, medical treatment and a safe home through Donatekart.
With campaigns from all over India, for different causes, Donatekart gives people the opportunity to donate from anywhere in India, to any NGO.
From Grocery Kits To Medicines, These NGOs Have Received Different Products
Since Donatekart transcends the traditional monetary relationship between NGOs and crowdfunding platforms, the impact it has had is varied. While some have received grocery kits and construction materials, animal shelters received food, medicines and even medical equipment. Hygiene products like soaps, toothpaste, disinfectants, and stationery, school bags and even winter clothes have been delivered to the NGOs in these cities.
The boundaries of crowdfunding have expanded beyond the biggest cities. If you know about any NGOs that are making a difference in tier-2 cities, write to us at info@donatekart.com. For more such inspiring stories, click here.
