The pandemic has left so many people helpless, without a livelihood and an uncertain future. Among these are countless children in India who now have no means to continue their education due to the lockdowns and school closures.
Aman, a bright student studying in a government school, has been completely cut-off from learning due to the digital divide since last year, when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. There are thousands of students just like Aman who are struggling amid this crisis. However, there is hope. With your support, children like Aman can get a smartphone and resume classes again. You can become a #DigitalSaathi by helping educate children in need.
About the Digital Saathi Program
Samagra Shiksha Office, Himachal Pradesh has launched “Digital Saathi- Bacchon ka Sahara, Phone Hamara” - a program for increasing access to smartphones for the government school students of Himachal Pradesh. This is a device donation campaign to enable home learning for students who don’t have access to a smartphone.
Having a smartphone will allow a student access to the state’s home learning initiative- Har Ghar Pathshala, which was launched in April 2020, immediately after the announcement of the national lockdown.
The Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh has been running Har Ghar Pathshala, a program to enable online learning for nearly 8 lakh students in government schools across the state, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The program comprises 5 key interventions that include daily dissemination of content on their website, daily online classes by teachers, weekly telephonic calls by teachers to all students, weekly whatsapp quizzes, e-PTMs to facilitate communication between parents and students.
Har Ghar Pathshala has been successful in reaching out to almost 80% students and has been widely appreciated by teachers and parents.
