When COVID-19 emerged at the beginning of 2020, the whole world geared in for a fight for survival. In our country, the marginalized and vulnerable communities were the worst-hit. They immediately lost their livelihoods. The migrant workers, roadside vendors, vegetable sellers, daily wage laborers, etc. were out of income in no time. They had nowhere to live and nothing to eat.
For the underprivileged workers and people, going back to work not only means risking their safety but also their family’s safety.
“I have witnessed my fellow workers fall prey to the virus. Their families caught it in no time. Ever since, my family and I have been very scared. Not just because of the virus but also because if I fall sick, there’s no one else to earn money and get food for us.” said Giriraj, a 40-year-old vegetable vendor.
They might have helped us by selling vegetables and fruits. They might have held the door open for us while we used an ATM. Many of our daily tasks would’ve been very hard without their help.
These people come from underprivileged backgrounds and most of them aren’t well-equipped with masks, sanitizers, face shields, etc. We’re striving to provide them with protective gear and sanitation supplies so that they can take prevention measures to keep themselves safe.
Along with these kits, they'll also be provided with some surprise gifts as a token of gratitude from all of us. Their Diwali could be filled with hope, joy, and assurance, only with your generous help and support.
This festival of lights will be different for you and family. Most of us will celebrate it in a different way. You can help someone else celebrate Diwali with a ray of hope by donating towards this noble cause.

Voice of Slum is an NGO based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Its mission is to assimilate street children into mainstream society by providing them with quality education, exposure and access to opportunities. The NGO is run by those born in slums, who have been through it all. They now want to help other slum kids have a better life.
Jeevaspandana Seva Trust:
Jeevaspandana Seva Trust is an NGO based in Bangalore, serving the poor and hungry with their immediate needs. They have been helping less privileged kids and people by reaching out to them with food and education materials as and when needed.
Dil Se Mehak:
As the most trusted organisation working for children in India, Dil Se Mehek thrives on a set of values which form solid bedrock of the work they do. Through accountability, ambition, collaboration, creativity, and integrity, they work to give the most marginalised children in India what they rightfully deserve – a healthy and happy childhood.
