    Project

Rajpal Singh is 72 years old, yet not a single day goes by when he doesn’t visit the Madan Mohan Tirth Gaushala Samiti. Located in Jind, Haryana, this gaushala is home to 2500+ cows now. And Rajpal ji has been associated with this gaushala since its inception 10 years ago after he retired as a teacher. Along with the help of a dedicated team, Rajpal has rescued and given a second chance to thousands of injured and abandoned gaumatas.

“It was during the winters and everything was covered in fog. The poor cow and her calf were stranded on the road and they couldn’t see a fast-moving car approaching them. The car hit them and went on its way leaving this mother and child to die in pain. Thankfully, we got a call at the right moment and were able to save them. They’re still in our gaushala now - living free of pain and suffering,” - Rajpal Singh, Madan Mohan Tirth Gaushala Samiti.

The gaushala works around the clock to ensure that injured and abandoned cows have a safe home

Rajpal ji was a passionate educator who worked for the poor and the underprivileged kids. A man with a strong will, he now wants to uplift countless abandoned gaumatas. Talking about the plight of the cows, he says that when farmers incur losses, it becomes impossible for them to look after the cows and as a result, they abandon them, forcing them to fend for themselves.

“It is unfortunate but how much can you blame a person struggling to feed his own family? That’s why we want to give a safe home to all those cows who are roaming the streets, with no food or shelter. They end up eating plastics and other garbage, and many among them are also visually challenged or paralysed due to accidents.”

With the help of vets and paramedics, Madan Mohan Tirth Gaushala Samiti is determined to save as many innocent animals as possible. But the financial crunch is a major obstacle for them.

“We are primarily dependent on donations from the villagers, some kind souls who want to help us in our mission. But the monthly expenses of the gaushala is a minimum of 4-5 lakhs and we often don’t have enough to feed our cows. We really need your help to give them a better life.”

You can help Rajpal ji save many more cows in need

Apart from fodder and medicine for the cows, the gaushala is in dire need of construction materials and an ambulance. Currently, they’re carrying out their rescue work via tractors and trucks but it is a tedious task - an ambulance would be helpful for the team. Similarly, they want to repair the old sheds and build new ones for the cows to protect them from the scorching heat of the sun and the subsequent monsoons.

“We request all of you to please come forward and help us so that we can save many more innocent cows. These animals deserve a life of happiness, your donations can ensure that.”
